About Us

Gidget was diagnosed with Juvenile Renal Dysplasia when she was a year old. We took her in to have her spayed and the blood work before surgery showed that her kidneys were not working properly. Our Vet decided to preform the surgery anyway without notifying us that there was a problem. After he had performed the spay, he had a look at her kidneys and discovered that they were deformed and one was very small. When we picked Gidget up that evening, we were told that she would live a year or less. Needless to say I was in a state of shock. This was my baby, and I could not believe what they were telling me.
When we got home, I made Gidget comfortable and then got on the computer to find everything I could on her disease. The out come did not look good. But there were some things I could try. I started by finding her a new Vet. ( My research turned up that she should have never had any kind of surgery. It could have killed her). Next I started cooking all her food myself, recipes that were for a dog with kidney disease. She receives special vitamins and also Sub Q fluids daily. ( fluid given under the skin to help her kidneys flush out toxins from her system. Kind of a doggie dialysis) Today with the blessings of God, Gidget is still going strong. Her medical expenses are high, but she is still alive and it has been almost 2 years since she was diagnosed. Gidget will never get well, her disease will only progress, but with the medical care we give her we have managed to slow down the progress of the disease. I have posted a page on her disease so you can read about it. Gidget is in stage two and has been for almost two years. We don't know how long that will last before we move to the last stage. But God has given more time than she was suppose to have, so we will continue to care for her as we have, and leave it in God's hands.

Gidget is a very spoiled and very much loved little fur baby. She likes to be held and is very persistent about it.
